Gorse Hill Farm is a charity run community project and is a working farm. A great place for families to visit or somewhere to get your older kids involved in helping out! They are at the top of Anstey Lane in Leicester LE4 0FJ and accessible by bus number 74 from Leicester City Centre.
There are over 100 animals to meet and opportunities to feed some of these animals. They also have a petting area where you can hold and stroke some of their more fluffy animals! In addition to this are an outdoor picnic area, a play area, a shop, gift shop and toilet facilities on site.
Admission is voluntary £2 an adult and £1 a child towards the upkeep of the farm (£150K a year it costs!) and they are open 365 days a year 10:00 – 16:00 (later in the summer 16:30).
The site is fully accessible for anyone with limited mobility.
If you are over 12 years of age, you can join their 200 member strong team to help out – if under 18 you do need to pay £1 each visit to pay for staff supervision, and you do need to pay an initial £15 to cover insurance and join the farm, after this you can volunteer as much or as little as you wish!
It is also worth mentioning their education room to hire, they can help organise school visits for you and they do an excellent party package.
Note: Prices are a guide only and may change on a daily basis.
