Bosworth Battlefield

The Battle of Bosworth was one of the most influential and important events in British history, after which the mighty Tudor dynasty came to power. The Centre found at the historic site of this battle will take you through this vicious battle and you can re-live this momentous turning point in history.

The battle itself took place on the 22nd August 1485 and saw the current King lose his crown during one of the last wars that saw any royal engaged within front line battle. This King was the infamous King Richard and his succession was to become the soon to be feared Henry Tudor.

At the centre you can expect to get hands on with numerous exhibits and displays. You and your children can learn about the way that wars were fought in medieval times, seeing how battles frequently unfolded and what strategies the Tudor dynasty used to come to power through violent means.

You’ll also learn about just how archaeologists discovered the site and the careful ways in which they removed some amazing artefacts from the battle ground.

If you’re visiting at the right time you may also be able to enjoy the battle brought back to life with the resident re-enactment group.
