Adaa aims to bring you the North Indian classical dance form of Kathak in its purest form.
Adaa stands for 'charm, beauty, grace and style'.
Kathak originated in the temples of India and then was performed in the grand palaces of the Mughals rulers. Now it is popular all over the world in theatres.
Adaa or Aarti's dance and arts academy is a school to teach this ancient art form to people of all ages and backgrounds. We follow the ISTD (Imperial society of teachers of dancing) syllabus from grades 1 - 6, as well as open classes for adults.
Adaa also carries out workshops in schools both In Kathak and Bollywood styles of dance.
All classes classes will classes will be taught by Kathak dancer Aarti Lodhia. Aarti started learning Kathak at at the age of 6 from Kunal Sash war and later from National award winner Aakash Odedra as well as training in in India with Kumudini Lakhia and Sanjukta Sinha. Aarti has performed in many venues both nationally and internationally including; Darpana Ahmedabad with Kadamb; Duet with Aakash Odedra in De Montfort hall Leicester and solo performance for Sampad at MAC Birmingham. She has also choreographed Kathak pieces for many dance projects.
Timetable of classes:
Grade 1: 4.30 - 5.30pm
Grade 5: 6 - 7.30pm
Adult open class: 7.30-8.30pm
All classes will be held at 34 Belgrave Road, Leicester, LE4 5AS.
